The International Award for Young People www.iayp.in (of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award www.intaward.org) is the world’s leading youth achievement award, bringing together practical experiences and life skills to create committed global citizens and equipping young people for life. Since it was founded in 1956, over eight million people have participated in the Award in over 140 countries and territories. The IAYP has been in India for over 50 years and over 100,000 young persons have benefited from participating in the Award Programme successfully. The award works with everybody who participates because they are working towards achieving something, and not necessarily because they are better than others. Why does this work? Because every individual sets his or her own goals and then works toward achieving them. The participants impute the Award with giving them energy, self-discipline, commitment and a capacity for teamwork.
