You work hard all day and night - wearing many hats from leading people, developing products, and making sure your business stays afloat, especially in these uncertain times.
You’ve been hustling and juggling business and family. Now, with the Labor Day weekend, why not give yourself a break that you deserve? This is a great time for you to treat yourself and relax away from your typical hectic schedule.
Studies have shown that taking a break from your work can provide many psychological and physical health benefits such as stress reduction and improved productivity.
Here are some of the relaxing activities you can indulge in to have a meaningful and well-spent weekend.
When you wake up feeling pressured or overwhelmed, try taking 5-10 minutes of your time in the morning jotting down three things (or more) you are grateful for. Isn’t just waking up and seeing another day a thing to be grateful for?
Many research studies have shown that gratitude is associated with greater happiness. Being grateful can improve your health and build positive emotions which can affect in managing your business efficiently.
Get moving! Having enough physical activities or exercises can boost your endorphins which act as the ‘feel-good’ hormones of your body. These hormones also help you in relieving stress and anxiety.
If walking within your neighborhood is allowed during the pandemic, do that, else walk indoors, in your garden or terrace. A study has also shown that walking can improve your creativity.
What activities do you enjoy? Be it painting, writing, playing music, or cooking. Whatever these activities are, as long as you love doing it, give it a try!
Doing your hobby is a good way to make you feel relaxed. Spend some time this Labor Day weekend just by doing your hobbies that can ease your mind from the demand of your work.

We have to stop glorifying sleepless nights. I’ve known a lot of entrepreneurs who are used to being sleep-deprived and take it as a badge of honor. Being sleep-deprived can have a negative impact on your health in the long run. Having enough sleep is necessary for you to have a well functioning mind and body. So no matter how busy it gets, aim to get 7-8 hours of sleep in a day.
In a study conducted by Harvard Business Review, it suggests that lack of sleep can be a barrier in doing an important entrepreneurial task. It also shows that early-stage entrepreneurs who have good sleep are good at spotting ideas.
Get out from your mobile screen and start connecting with your loved ones. As you navigate your business, you should always remind yourself that there’s more to life apart from your business. Find a sense of balance by harnessing your relationship with your family and the people around you.
If there’s something the pandemic has taught us, it is to nurture the relationship we have with the people around us. Time is something that you can never buy, so don’t neglect it. Organize a Zoom party with your friends or schedule a call with your family. Spending time with them can help you get back to work motivated and refreshed.
These are some of the things you can do during the Labor Day weekend. Let go of your tasks for a while and focus on replenishing and nurturing your mind, soul, and body.
Because after all, you are the greatest asset of your business.
