Branding is one of the many things that we need to spend time on as a business owner. Even for a startup, you need to put a lot of thought to it. When we created Taxumo and when I created Manila Workshops, I spent a lot of time building my brand. This is what helps gain the trust of your market and partners. It’s a symbol of the pact that you’re making with your market and partners.

Branding is also a way of making your business unique from the rest of your competitors. It’s a way of showing who your company is, what you do, what you offer and what you stand for. It is the key towards making people know not only what kind of product or service you have, but how competent the company is and how capable at delivering the company is at providing value and excellent service.

In this article, I’ll be sharing with you reasons why you should start focusing on branding now.

Gain Trust
Having a solid brand identity exudes the message that the business is quite established and is in good shape to join and form new partnerships and alliances or to deliver value for its customers or even to expand to new markets. Branding builds the reputation of your business in such a way that it creates an impact on the customers that your business is here to stay. When creating a brand, the first step is to really understand the customers’ needs and wants. Then, branding is the way you communicate how your company will be of value to them.

Investment opportunities
Branding is not only for end users of your product or service, but also to close potential partnerships. It may also help you close deals with investors.

New customers
Having a clear brand identity means customers can easily share it with other people. They can easily say things like “You know 'x' cosmetics company? They offer the best long-lasting lipstick ever!” They won’t have any problem endorsing you, since they know who you are, what you offer and what you stand for.

Sense of pride
Test if you have a strong brand and start with your employees. If the employees are clear on who you are as a company and if every single employee knows exactly what the company is, then you will have no problem in creating a strong brand. The people who work in the company will always be the first few brand ambassadors.

Easy advertisement
Having a strong brand identity means that your marketing team will find is easier to come up with engaging messages and will have an easier time promoting the business.
