Supporting Filipino Startups: UnionBank and UBX participate in Philippine Startup Week 2019

Upholding its commitment to support the Filipino startup community, Union Bank of the Philippines and UBX participated at the Philippine Startup Week 2019 (PHSW19) with the theme of ‘Showcasing Filipino Startup Community to the World’ from November 15 - 22, 2019.


In one of the community events of PHSW19, UnionBank partnered with myBoss.asia Inc. to celebrate and recognize startup founders who took part at myBoss.asia Inc’s pitching competition called ‘Scale your Business: Pitching competition on tech disruption and global reach’.

Tony Del Carmen, Managing Director of myBoss.asia Inc welcomed the participants with some words of wisdom on how to grow a business. “For your company to grow, you need to find the unique needs (of your target customers); you have to see what others can’t see,” Tony said.  “myBoss is here to help entrepreneurs scale their business.”

Meanwhile, Francisco Joaquin Gozos, UnionBank’s Customer Segments Manager, shared the digital journey of UnionBank as it gears towards writing the future, introducing their state-of-the-art products including The Portal, a business banking and all-in-one platform designed to streamline business transactions; and Unionbank GlobalLinker, a digital platform with networking and business tools to help micro, small, and medium enterprises go digital and go global. Both of these platforms can be accessed for free.

Philippine Startup Week

Among the startups who participated at the competition are Agri-tech startup Uproot Urban Farms, a social enterprise that works with local communities to help grow fresh produce without having the technical skills of a farmer,  founded by Robi Del Rosario; and tech startup eCFullfil that provides easy and smart e-commerce experience for non tech-savvy entrepreneur, led by Neptune Factor.


The PHSW19 is a collaboration by the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Trade and Industry, and the Department of Information and Communications Technology, QBO Innovation Hub, and various private agencies.
